OK so I got a small problem......I'm trying to replace my return pump. I currently have a hydor L40 with 3' of head and I'm guessing I'm not getting much more them 500gph I already have a Jebao dc9000 and another overflow box. I tried to hook them up last night and to slow of flow made the new (bigger) overflow get bubbles in the suction tube. To fast of flow and it was crazy noisy. From what I can tell most of the noise was coming from the water going into the first overflow box. It's almost like the water can't get through the teeth fast enough. So it rushes in and down and creates swooshing noises. Also the back side makes some noise as well but I think that's because I need to raise my Hoffer gurgle busters. They're to low so the water having to roll over the waterfall down is noisy. Any help is much appreciated and a big Thank you in advance! Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

you answered your own question.... to much flow the overflow cant drain fast enough, not enough flow it is draining faster than it can return...
what are the overflows rated for and what is the pump rated for?

Lol idk? both overflows are eshopps ones a 800 and the other is 1500 I believe. But I have ball valves on every drain and one on the output of the pump. No adjusting helped. It was too noisy even at the slowest setting. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

I know I have to upgrade the eshopps 800 to a 1500 but I haven't found one yet. I prefer to buy a used one.

That link brings me to a Lance's frags for sale from 2012? Lol How can I drill the tank when it's up and running? I've thought about trying it. How could I secure the overflow into the tank? Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

Drain the tank down below where you have to seal calk the overflow on, it will catch anything dropped wile you drill it.....
