I think the main problem beyond the water weight pushing on the un braced seams once you remove the brace is going to be the cure time for the adhesive used to attach the new brace. Most are glued on with silicone and take 2 days to cure. That's the only concerns it would have. Beyond that, awesome tank modification to do.

You could always use a ratchet strap to help secure the tank glass while you remove and rebuild the top brace too.

You could always use a ratchet strap to help secure the tank glass while you remove and rebuild the top brace too. That's a great idea like I said before I just planned on leaving the center brace in while the euro brace cured. Then cut it out. It's got a little bit on the brace that sticks up more then the rim but I could shave that down before I glue on the brace. Would the uncured silicone be a threat to the tank at all? Fumes? I would much rather switch to a 60 or 75g rimless but don't really have the funds right now.

Want to make it for me? I probably could. im making a tank 48"x18"x16" so I will have scrap thats about 3" wide by 48" long easier way- a few years back I helped a few ppl get rid of their center brace. use a couple clamps so the tank dosnt bow and cut out the center brace then replace it with a piece of acrylic held in place with nylon screws.... I still have a little lexan I can cut if you do it this way

I'd just be worried it would get all scratched up and not allow enough light through. I'd probably have to clean it a lot to? Idk but I should be ordering my lights soon so if have to figure out what I'm going to do soon.

there are numerous threads about replacing the center brace this way... the center brace dosnt have allot of pressure on it, the screws should hold fine. you could always use some weldon16 and glue it then screw it if you were worried about the screws not holding

You should look at the regular and the compacts (I'd get 2) and tell me what you think? Full sized orphek.com/orphek-atlantik-v2-wifi/Compacts orphek.com/atlantik-compact-wifi/

they seem to be a nice light but the price scares me lol Yeah I'm not worried about that as much. I just want something that grows corals nice and colors then up to. From everything I've seen and read(YouTube and external web sites) is positive and really draws me to these.

So would anyone be surprised if I told you I changed my mind? Lol well I did!
Bought 2 radion pro gen 3's and hoping to get them early next week:) They were on sale and a few people I trust told me I'd be an idiot to go with something I've never seen for my self work in person.
Big shout out to cultivated reef once again for dealing with my indecision and always looking out for my best interests!

Welcome to the Radion family Ty lance even though we didn't talk your tank was a factor in my decision! I tried to think of successful people with both lights I liked and there was at least 5 with radions and zero with Orphek. Though I still think it's a great light and plan to get one in the near future for a possible frag tank shhhhhh don't tell my wife! Lol
