Added the first wave of cleaners to this tank.
From reefcleaners; DT=5 Nerites, 5 Florida Ceriths, 50 zig zag periwinkle(they are tiny),10 nassarius. Overflow DSB= 1 Nassarius Refugium= 2 small Nerite
From ebay; 10 bristleworms 10 Stomatella snails.
Now to give them a couple of weeks to see how they do while I wait for my acrylic safe scraper to arrive.

I'd be really interested in hearing if the periwinkles survive long term?

I'd be really interested in hearing if the periwinkles survive long term? They do fine. They are a tidal Florida species so the biggest problem is them wandering out of the tank like Nerites do. The difference is they are so small that you realize they've made it out when you hear the crunch because you stepped on them. I think they've lasted around a year in my other tanks before I notice that I don't see any. Dwarf ceriths would be a better choice in terms of cleaning power and not escaping, but I've heard that they don't mix well with Gyre pumps because they are small enough to fit through the grate but long enough to jam the impellers causing them to self destruct.

Got my second razor. Unfortunately they changed the height of the mounting legs compared to the older model I had. I've got to see if I can get a set of longer legs for it.

Good to know, thanks!

2 ideas. 1. The razor I sold you didnt come with legs. I bought those from BRS for $45. 2. The legs are metal rods bent at 90 degrees insering them one way may make them taller than the other. Maybe I put the legs in wrong.

I don't think you had it wrong. It's just made to work either way. I kind of liked the higher position, but I may have to settle for the lower. The lack of symmetry will give me fits

Also I took advantage of the sale LA is having to pick up a few things. For this tank I rounded out the cleaners a bit; 4 Chestnut turbos, 1 red Fromia star, 1 Coral banded shrimp. What the point of the order was is now in QT;

Fuzzy dwarf and radiata?

Yes, but I lost the Fuzzy. Not sure why it seemed fine through acclimation and made it through the night fine, but was belly up when I got home from work. I dosed prime as insurance against an ammonia spike and it was a fatter healthier looking specimen than the radiata which looks perfectly ok today. I didn't try and feed them yesterday I just wanted to let them rest. I tried a small earthworm but the radiata actually was a little afraid of it and worked its way around the rock so it wasn't near it. I'll try some mysis tomorrow and see if it's interested.

Bummer. How big is the radiata? You might want to try a silverside or ghost shrimp to get it started. I've used a clear acrylic rod or lightly tied on fishing line before to entice them to eat. Good luck. Did both come from LA?

Good luck. Did both come from LA? The radiata is about 1.5 inches. So pretty small. He ate three frozen mysis Friday but won't touch them now. Maybe not hungry enough yet. I tried another tiny earthworm today and it looks like it struck it hard enough to break it into pieces but I'm not sure it ate any. I do have some silver sides but will need to cut them up really tiny for him to be able to swallow. He's still wary of me so I'm not sure I'll be able to start training to stick feed until he associates me with food. I was going to pick up some feeder shrimp but easy was out. Yes both came from LA. It seemed fine fat and healthy and was mobile and responsive. It's the first fish I've ever lost that wasn't obviously in trouble when it arrived.

Oh, that is tiny. Yeah,silversides may be too big. Maybe try frozen krill as well. Fishing line might be worth trying.

Added a little more clean up crew to the DT. Since I won't have many fish in this system I'm maximizing the invert diversity both in a cover all your bases and as a way to have more to look at.
1 Florida Fighting Conch 5 Limpet 2 Fuzzy Chiton 20 Dwarf Planaxis
Also added a couple stalks of Pencil cap Macro to add a bit of interest to the sand bed on one side. I need to clean the glass tomorrow so I can take some pictures.
