I've always had clear backed tanks and just feel like the solid background really makes the tank feel smaller and darker. It might have been different if it were a blue background but I'm happy with the clear.

It would look a whole lot better had it not been for a junk cadlights pump, a skimmer that wasn't working properly because of a missing part and if I had more time for general maintenance. It looks like crap to me at the moment but it is what it is.

I still see ideas in my head of turning this tank into a planted driftwood setup for freshwater. Actually my idea is to replicate your style of tank that you have your rays in. But that's a totally different direction and I'm not yet done with the reef hobby yet.

Finally managed to get one of my water blaster 10000 pumps hooked up to my tank. It literally just barely fits in my sump but valves back it works and will be fine until I can actually get the vectra pump that I wanted.

Little update. I've been going back and fourth with the idea of scrapping the tank as a reef setup and adapting it to be a freshwater planted tank. Part of the reason for this is cadlights products SUCK!!!! The tank is awesome but beyond that everything g sucks. I've literally had nothing but issues from missing parts, warped door on the stand, main pump died. Skimmer pump died. Refugium light started rusting. Combined that with cadlights absolute shitty customer service I've been extremely disappointed to the point of wanting to give up the reef hobby. Anyway two, days ago my skimmer died again and for what ever reason it started working again today only to die a few hours later. Luckily I was able to pick up a couple cheap skimmers from skirossi on here. I've got an SCA301 in the sump skimming now and the other skimmer I got from him managed to have a pump that fit perfectly on the eshopps psk200 skimmer so now I have two, working skimmers. Hoping to unload some corals to clean up the clutter as well. For now I'm gonna see where it goes and if things can turn around.

Well maybe this will be the step in the right direction to keeping the reef going. Finally have a working skimmer pulling skimate and a backup skimmer as well now. Thanks again skirossi. Attachments:

Glad you got a skimmer to work. Tough for you I'm sure. I know you have put a lot of time and money into make this a nice tank.

So I had a little mishap yesterday. I moved my float valve late at night to try and solve what seemed like a pump sucking air issue. Woke up the next morning to a wet floor because I carelessly stuck the float valve too close to the glass sump and the ro overflowed my sump. It was enough to make the carpet get soaked but didn't effect any livestock with the drop in salinity. Unfortunately because of the wet carpet it meant moving the tank to be able to rug doctor the carpet. All is well though. Tank is actually looking better than before and it got me to fix a bunch of the issues under the tank including cutting one of the baffles out of the sump as well. Attachments:

Yea it worked out well for the most part. Pretty easy tank to move actually. Just drained the water, took out the fish and the two coral rocks and moved the tank and stand with the sand inside all in one go. Never could have done that with my 125.

Decided to have a little fun with a photoshop app on my iPad. The first pic is the original. I think I like the high contrast black and white pic the best.
