I can finally see a new aquarium stand for my tank upgrade in my future. I cut down the tree and milled the boards from this log myself. Attachments:

Since the beginning this thread has been about changing tanks so here I go again. I’ve had this 75 gallon rimless tank that I got in trade just sitting around in my basement for a couple years now so I figured it was high time I did an upgrade. Unfortunately I didn’t have a stand for it but I did have a bunch of lumber that I milled from a big pine tree that I cut down.

Unfortunately not all the pics are in order but I’m sure you can figure out how everything has progressed from logs to ruff slabs to milled lumber to a bookshelf stand that I built for the tank to sit on. At the same time I’ve been in the middle of building and cycling a basement sump and frag tank that will be plumbed into the system.

After setting the tank on the stand and realizing the stand needed more work, finishing it, filling the tank and draining the tank multiple times because the whole setup was unstable I finally took my wife’s idea of cutting out the carpet underneath the stand and in doing that the tank sat flat on the hard sub floor and no longer rocks front to back. I also modified a floor vent to let my pipes go easily through the floor. If I ever decide to move the tank or sell my house I can easily pop a new vent in the floor.

And now the finished tank. Pretty empty compared to my cadlights tank but that’s only because of my frag tank. Oh and here’s some coral eye candy too.
