I gotta say I was a little skeptical about adding a Ats to my system. I have really low nutrients with my N03 between 0-3ppm and my P04 at 0.02 but it's only been up for 4 days today and I'm already seeing good growth.....  Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards |

Did you DIY or buy that? Is it just sitting at the top of your sump or fed separately?

Did you DIY or buy that? Is it just sitting at the top of your sump or fed separately? I bought it from greg. Yes it sits at the top of my sump at an angle so the water goes downhill. I do want to add a couple pieces of black acylic on either side to keep the light a little more contained. FYI they sell these type of Ats on fishstreet for about $100 with shipping. The comparable sized Ats were around 500$.... Almost bought one but decided I should probably try a cheaper one first to see how I like it. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards |

I took a toothbrush to my rock in some trouble area's to stir up some junk and mine started growing like crazy. I scrap weekly now

The spillage is from the light. It's wider then the scrubber but I don't want to put it closer. Once the algae is grown in there won't be any light getting through!  hopefully |

What are you using for a light? I meant the light spread is wider. I'm using a cheap 15W led grow bulb, 3 reds and 2 blues with the optics removed ... I'm probably gonna order a 54w bulb today though? Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards |

You can get super cheap 5k LED bulbs at Walmart, lowes, and Home Depot. That's all I use for my refugium light to grow algae. I just put mine in a cheap 6 inch round aluminum shop light reflector to direct the light where I want it.

I got a 5k led grow light with the scrubber but it must of got knocked around in shipping because it keeps blinking.... From everything I've read using just red and blue leds gives the best results for a Ats. The bulb I'm using now is my wife's house plant bulb for the winter. So it's only on loan to me right now. Lol I have one of those 6" round aluminum shop lights. I'm not getting a ton of over spill on the light. I just don't have a fuge so I really don't want to have algae growing in my sump, other then on the Ats. I already have the black acylic so it's a really easy fix for me. It's growing most in the center and that has me thinking I need 2 of these same lights instead of a bigger single bulb? Better coverage and these bulbs are cheaper! Lol thoughts?? Incase anyone wants to know I'm running the led on the Ats for 16 hours a day. I run it opposite of the Dt starting at 7pm and shutting off at 11am... From everything I've researched this is the best way to run it and I'm getting good results so far.
