This hobby is only as expensive as you choose to make it. I like supporting local fish stores as much as possible but at the end of the day I like supporting my hobby and bank account more. Buying online is one of the best way's to save loads of money. And for any one diehard loyal to a particular local fish store, don't forget that you can always ask them to match a price or even haggle with them on things. You'd be surprised what kinds of deals you may get! If all else fails, Its almost a 100% bet you can find any fish, coral, invert or item cheaper online. Don't forget that buying online also saves on gas costs. Subtract the cost of fuel to drive to the LFS from the cost of shiping livestock, add in a guarantee of up to 15 days and it doesn't seem near as bad.

Pet Quarters in Scarborough has a small Clown Trigger for $75. Great looking fish, great price.
If I had a slightly bigger tank, he would be here now.

I found a site that seems pretty nice. Spikescorals.com have a good selection of acros for 10-15$ a frag. I'm placing a order ill let you know how it goes.

The Portlan Petco has an awesome healthy true Stichodactyla gigantea carpet anemone for for under $50. I can't believe I passed it up yesterday. Saw that too. And, came across another set of Petco coupons in TFH magazine (July issue, and yes I'm a little behind in my reading) for 25% off marine life and 25% off IO salt. Coupons expire at the end of the month. |

Steve I thought this Pet Quarters had done away with marine life? I haven't been in there for years. Was in the Bangor store back in November and it was dismal. |

They have 4-5 tanks setup for saltwater. I took a fast look. They had a couple fish and some live rock. Not much. |

Bangor petco appears to have trouble getting it's moved saltwater section up and going most of the tanks are "under observation" and they have not been housing any inverts in those tanks they have all been in the live rock tank for sometime, the frag tank is getting overgrown with algea and much of their coral is declining. I'm posting this as a good deal to save you all the gas money...but if you need a tank the $1 per gallon sale is back.

Thanks for the heads up on that petco, I had thought about taking a drive up soon but won't bother mow until I have some money to spend at Greg's.

SPIKESCORALS. WOW. Just wow. What a great company, I ordered my frag and since then I received 4 phone calls. 1 when they shipped it 1 when it was in transit 1 to see if they arrived and 1 to talk about what he sent and how they are doing. The customer service was beyond the call of duty. They shipped them with heat packs and gave me a free frag of valida. I ordered 4 frags and all are in great shape. 2 of the smaller birdsnest came of the plug but we all know hoe brittle they are. The prices are the lowest I've seen. If anyone is thinking of placing a order online go to spikescorals.com. ill post pictures later.
