What a g.d.p.i.t.a.!Ok, so I've decided I really don't want to drill and I'm going to diy overflow boxes. I'm either gonna go broke buying plexi or I'm gonna go insane! If anyone in the Bangor area has made one successfully, let me know, pleeeease.

Stopped today and got pieces all cut to size. I've tried several times to bend the corners but I'm giving up on that. It's gonna be squared off with all individual plates for each side. As long as the weldon holds up and the box holds water, I'm a happy camper! I don't care what it looks like; out of site, out of mind! Gotta go get an epideral for a bad disk in my back tomorrow, so won't be doing too much about it til the weekend. Crossing my fingers that this time is a success!

good luck with the injection! hope it helps.... I had 4 before my laminotomy surgery, and now they want to fuze but I wont let them...
if you use plexi make sure to have extra support on the top of the overflow to prevent it from bowing. if it bows it can crack the seams... personally I like lexan its not as soft as plexi so it dosnt bow...
have you bonded plastic before? I used sewing needles to create a gap between the plexi, use a syringe to fill the gap then remove the needles so it seals...

Injection went well this morning. Hopefully it works. 6 months of non stop pain. I've had enough!
As to binding it, I've hade a few test pieces but that's about it. Sounds like a good technique.
Ok but here's a new problem. The perfectly cut 1/4" plexi turns out to be two pieces of 1/4" ( inside-hanger plate and bottom plate) and 3 pieces of doubled 1/8" (outside and sides). These pulled apart so now I have 6 instead of 3. Any suggestions on how to make this work. Getting really frustrated! Can I bind the plates together? Would the 1/8" plates be strong enough?

Only being 9" X 2 1/2" X 9" I don't think you have to worry very much. Most of my overflows are 1/8" on the black part and 1/4" on the clear outside part. They're also much bigger then your making. If you were really worried you could always put some braces on the outside of the box. Like you said it won't be seen anyways. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards

just use 1/4" I wouldnt try to glue 2x 1/8" pieces together, to many "what if's" to justify doing it just use 1/4"

By the time you get done buying more acylic I bet you could of just bought a couple overflows pre made? I think the Eshopps Pf800 would fit the space you need perfectly. I have one here if you need any measurements?.....

this is how my 30g is drilled imo-way better than an overflow box and I dont have to worry about coming home to an empty tank with dead fish and coral or could you just pull the tank 1/2" away from the wall so an overflow box would fit? any of the eshopps pf series overflow boxes are 3" wide
