So as I was heading to bed tonight, I came across a large puddle by my 40b frag tank...I check all my plumbing, everything seems dry. It looks like a seam must of failed (just bought the tank new in December). So I frantically dump all my frags in a 2.5 gallon tank I had with a small powerhead, filled all the buckets I could find with water, and rescued any other life I could find. I cranked the heat in that room, and I guess I scheduled myself a long day tomorrow. Or I may just bail on the whole idea, in which case I will have a bargain sale on Sunday. Ugh.

Thanks. I am transferring everything to my display and a Rubbermaid tote for now. Now that I had a chance to look at things closer, the tank actually cracked. Petco is closed today, but I didn't get the stand from them, so I don't know if they will help out. Also, now I don't trust the cheap metal stand I got from Drs Foster and Smith (I had to reinforce it with plywood to keep it from being wobbly).

If I was you if get sold off tetra via email and tell them what happened. Tell them how old the tank is and all that. If the stand you got from Dr f&s is that wobbly I'd be calling then and complaining as well 100% customer satisfaction isn't buying a brand new stand that is wobbly!

cover the top with styro so the tank sits flat on it.... There is only a 3/4" rim all the way around, that wouldn't be a problem?

I have never used Styrofoam on any tanks I have ever set up ( not saying it is right or wrong ) and have never had a problem. The two wood stands I currently have I could not fit Styrofoam due to the width of the wood where the stand meets the tank. When I went to pick up my 40b in Portsmouth last weekend I noticed a couple of Tetra tanks were light on silicone and light to the point it was missing for a couple of inches.

Sorry to hear this, I think the tetra warranty is still valid as long as the stand was built by a commercial maker and not a diy jobby. Not sure if cracked glass is covered but Id definately bring the tank to petco and demand another, it is a brand new tank after all. +1 on the styrofoam board.

I am trying to find my original paperwork, but I think this was an aqueon tank if that makes a difference. Thanks for the kind words everyone, I'll go talk to Petco tomorrow.

Maybe they will just give me a refund and I can get a better quality tank elsewhere. Or maybe just try the foam on the same stand? Or get a new stand anyway? I hate this.
