I've seen a bunch of videos on Youtube, BRS, and the Kessil Site but I have not seen them in person. It's almost impossible to get a good representation from video on lights.
I'm drawn to the Kessils because of the shimmer. I'ce researched heavily Radions, Hydra 52, Build My LED and Pacific Sun fixtures. I'm drawn to the Kessils over all of them because of the shimmer and no disco ball. Silly reason eh?
How do MH cost $50 a month when I calculated my usage based off my bill at $35 or so? Does the ballast use a lot?

Have you looked at the kessil site? It is a real neat idea what they did and I can see why they are expensive. Been there many times. Very impressive.

PUR= Photosynthetically Usable Radiation - AKA, Useful Light Energy = ULE
"How do MH cost $50 a month when I calculated my usage based off my bill at $35 or so? Does the ballast use a lot?"
Syntax that is like everyone stating their LEDs run at 165 watts because the manufacturers published that number but the fans and drivers also use electricity, Still the units don't use as much electricity as lets say 2 150w halides but close to 4 39w t-5s. Your reasons for liking the Kessils are not silly it is your preference, that is the nice thing about this hobby. I am not ready to give up my halide, LED, and t-5 fixture just yet. Bright, color, Shimmer, Heat, what more could you ask for?? lol

I bought it because I didn't want light spillage Nand full coverage.... It was very expensive for what it is... Disappointed.

I'm sure you can still sell it to help out with the cost of the lights your going to buy? There's a buyer for everything.

The disco ball effect that everyone sees is caused by the optics. If you have 60 or 90 degree optics, and don't mount the light high enough to allow good spread, you will get the disco ball effect. With 120 optics(no optics) you get no disco ball effect, and can mount the light closer to the water to keep the levels up.
