Am I crazy for seriously considering metal halide for my 125g build? I'm seriously nostalgic for the crazy shimmer and look of the lights.
Talk me out of it or help me decide the right direction to go with MH fixtures.

A 10000k 70w halide with a 15000k kessil looks phenomenal over my tank.....just not enough room to hang both.

You're not crazy...it's the best light IMO. If you don't care about the cost to run them then go for it.

The Kessil 360 looks amazing compared to other LED's! The shimmer is spot on! It's got me considering those with an Apex for control.

I estimate using my electric bill with current energy and delivery charges that it would cost about $35.00 a month to run 3 250w MH for about 10 hours a day. Not that bad actually... Heat could be a problem and install as well, pendant or canopy... Not sure which was to go.
The Kessil's look very good, impressed. I never have them a close look before because I thought they were second tier and overpriced... I would buy three of those.

Loved my VHO's .... No shimmer though.
I think I'm going to pick up 3 kessil 360's ... I'll add a fourth if needed down the road.
Maybe there will be a Patriots Day Sale?
Rick is drilling my new tank Saturday.... I'm going bean animal with a 2 foot overflow box on the top back of tank... Modified coast to coast.

at $400 each your better off buying one of the "big name" led lights. not to mention you will need at least 4x 360's

I'm not sure about that... I've seen multiple 6ft tanks on RC lighted with 3 360w's quite well.

3 kessil x $400= $1200 ( you will probably end up getting 4 to get the light spread you want so $1600)
imo- that is allot of $$$ to spend on lights that will be outdated in a year. hell for that kind of $$ you can put in led supplemented light tubes, and use natural sunlight
