+1 after looking closer I'd have to agree on the wp-40 being the best option. But I'd get the fish street exclusive if I was you? Seems to be a better design of the same pump and it is supposed to push extra gph. Fs14000 I believe?

I use one wp40 on a 4' tank.
You can always turn down the pumps power. As running full strength on anything brings down the life expectancy.
On another note I'm not nearly impressed with the power of the wp25. I run one on a 40b. I feel like I need another or 2 in there.
There is a huge size difference between the 2 units. I should have run 2 wp40's, one on each tank. You have to make sure to buy them with the latest controller or they are not nearly as tunable.

I'm pretty sure if you put 2 wp-40's on a 40B your have yourself a wet mess! Thinking maybe you should upgrade to 2 wp-25's with the new dual controller Dennis I think you'd be happier with that. Size note as well: not only does ruining full power bring the life expectancy down but it also makes the pumps a lot louder.

I put my wp-25 in my 29 gal and on set to the lowest setting it was like a washing machine in the tank. One thing I have been reading a lot about is these pumps attract slime in the impeller magnet and they need to be cleaned often or they tend to lose power. Some people are cleaning then every two weeks,

if I turn up my 2 wp40 on one side I can send a 2"-3" wave out the other side of my 180g

Rob, You should become a distributer with that many units sold, you might make a mint on ebay. I think I remember seeing 3 of them over your tank, the one lights 2' of my tank well so im thinking on a 6 foot 3 would do well. The new tank will be 3 inches deeper but I may go with sand vs bare which is what I run now. Im also going to include 4x 24w ATI t5 into the hood because I just like the light they put off. This should give me about 3.65 watts per gal. Jason, The girl at Bangor petco told me yesterday that she was pretty sure the dollar a gallon sale starts the 30th of this month, I do love those 40 breeders.

Skip the MP40's..........too much money and too loud. Get 2 Jebao WP40's for the flow. Opinions, opinions... Go w/ Ecotech. They last forever, have minimal heat transfer to the tank (something you'll thank me for in the summer), and are beautiful to (not) see in your tank. That is, the motor unit is outside the tank and cords stay outside the tank with only the low-profile prop inside. I believe they are significantly more flexible when it comes to programming/flow patterns. Oh yeah, they can also be controlled by Radion lights (if you've got those) to create day/night surge cycles.

Because you don't have radions so you can't control them with that. I really don't think these pumps are worth triple the money for very simular functionality. 300$ extra is allot just to have half your pump on the outside of the tank. Imho If you have the extra money to spend and you don't mind... Then more power to you! I wish I did! because I would have 2 mp40's if I did. Maybe:)

Minimizing heat transfer to the tank in summer can actually be a big deal, esp if you have to pay money to cool the tank...or if you lose livestock. Also my MP10s & MP40 have been running full bore for 2.5 years with zero issues. Has anyone been running Jebao's that long continuously? Any issues? I am curious.
