Found a sweet tank for sale at easy aquariums, my 37 gallon will be going 140 at some point. The skimmer should be here saturday but I need to get a couple more lights, larger return pump, and some good circ pumps. At 6 feet wide im thinking maybe 2 mp40s on the sides then use the 2 HK 850s on the backwall for now? Any suggestions help Ive never had a tank this size.

Skip the MP40's..........too much money and too loud.
Get 2 Jebao WP40's for the flow.

What are the dimensions of a 140?

Will the wps push enough, the tank is 6 foot long?
Tucker, BRS volume calculator says the 72*18*25 is 140 gallon.

Hmm sounds like a 125. Did you just pick it up within the past day or so? I know he was selling one.

Yeah just contacted him yesterday about it. Not quite sure the volume glass cages lists it at 135, brs says 140 and Easy says 125. Whatever it is, I cant wait to bring it home.

If you don't think the wp-40 will be enough then you could always go for the new wp-60's with the new dual controller witch 2 wp-60's will give you plenty of flow and may be your best option for a 6'long tank. Good idea on the 2 hk 850's on the back glass as well. what are you planning for a new sump? What's your current lighting on the tank you have now?

Also when measuring the size of the tank for water volume you have to measure just the glass from the inside of the tank. You can't measure the tank from the plastic trim on the outside witch is how most tanks measurements are taken by the manufacturer. If Jason said it was a 125g then I'm pretty sure it's a 125g. Nice score to that was a great price on a new tank.

It's a 125. 2 wp-40s on that tank will be plenty. I ran 2 on a 220 and it was still sloshing too much for me. The dual controller would be cool to have to only take up one socket.

I have 1 wp-40 on my tank and run 2 other power heads plus my return so I guess it's all preference on what you want for flow. My tanks only a 75g. They are very strong pumps though.

I have 2 wp-40 on my 180g (6'x2'x2') its to much flow if you dont have them set just right

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, ill check into the wps.
Jason, currently im running 1x 165w full spec. led the chinese one. I plan on picking up 2 more of these at some point and including all 3 of them in a canopy with a couple t5s. I havent quite decided on sump size yet but was thinking something of around 30-40 gal.

for the pumps I am debating on running 4x wp-25 instead of the 2x wp-40 they push an amazing amount of water
I could bring a wp-40 to the swap for anyone that wants to check out the amount of water they move
165w led is actually 120w led. they use 55x"3w" led 3w led are actually 2.2w
some company's list as 165w to get the sale these are the company's to stay away from I have had very good luck with greensun lights. I think most of the led around came from my orders, at least 58 lights in the past year....

Doverdoug: maybe a diy 40g breeder sump is in order? Wait till pet co has another sale and grab one. Baffles are cheap to get cut. (Ask Rob he may still have some? If not he may cut them for you cheaper then most places)
