Anyone have one personally? I mainly want to know what the base unit does and what I would need to get for add on's?

It is either an APEX JR or Apex Lite. The APEX Lite was discontinued by Neptune Jan 1st. Both come with Temp probe, computer and internet connect ability and that is about it. The lite you could directly connect a PH probe and an ORP probe directly to it. The JR you have to buy modules for everything you want to add to it. I have an old Neptune JR on my sons F/W tank, it was my original controller and has always been rock solid. Even to this day support has been great through Neptune.

Yeah sorry I tried to edit the title but it wouldn't change the title for some reason? Apex Jr is the one I'm inquiring about.
How much is the Neptune jr?

I got a used one and really like it its easy to program various timers for each outlet on the strip and also gives you peice of mind as far as using it as a temp probe. My only gripe is timers cannot turn on and off low power pumps such as an aqualifter so an independent ago is still necessary, and small pumps cannot be setup on timers as dosers otherwise it was well worth it and I want another for my office. I don't have internet module but would be able to view temp and then on and off any outlet remotely

Apex Jr is only 150$ and it already has the capability to use Internet and email and text you alerts. It seems like the best bang for your buck.

When pricing compare apples to apples, The one you are getting from Cultivated is not the complete unit as it does not come with the head unit. You will need to run an Ethernet cable to it and turn on a computer every time you want to check anything or adjust anything. With the head unit you mount it near the tank and it is very simple to check and adjust the system. Head units usually run 100.00+ so at 149.99 it is not really a good buy but the cheapest route to a controller.

I don't mind not having the box on my tank at all. I can try and pick up a head unit used at some point later on if that's the case. I didn't think the Jr came with the head unit no matter where you buy it?
I'm only inquiring about these units for right now and haven't even decided if I want/need one at all?

Do they all have the same head unit? Or does the Jr have a certain one that goes with it?

I think having some sort of controller system is a good idea, if you have a larger aquarium with a bunch of corals. The heater only has to stick on once and you stand to lose $1000s of dollars in fish and corals. Then compare that to spending $200-$500 on a control.

Wish I could find a cheap used one! I'm home most of the time so I only need it really for emergencies and vacations.
Eventually I'll use it more often but for right now I just want piece of mind when I'm not home.
