By head unit do you mean screen? If so, Apex provides both Iphone and android apps. You don't need a pc...at least I don't.

Head unit is the screen. They used a genetic picture.
This is taken from the website you provided the link to,
The Apex Jr. System comes complete with: •Apex Jr. •Apex Display Module •Long-life Temperature Probe

Jason I mis spoke, The RKL uses the SL1 module which gives you PH, and Orp monitoring as well as the ability to run two switches.
There are two versions of the RKL
RKL Basic which is just the head unit, temp probe. and power strip 119.99
RKL Plus which adds the SL1 module and PH probe. 199.99
D.A. Reef keeper units use the SL modules and the Neptune Apex units use the PM Modules.
None of the Reef keeper units were discontinued, it was the Neptune Apex lite that was discontinued.
There are no dumb questions in this hobby except the ones not asked.

I'm somewhat of a fast learner except when it comes to anything with a computer or the like. I'll quote Ryan "I'm a fish geek not a computer wiz"

I was just contacted by fragtasticreef.com and I was correct the unit advertised for 119.99 does not include the SL1 (PH Orp module).

Ty for all the help and information from people that knew and helped me with making my decision. I ended up going with the apex Jr and I'll be adding the pm1 module as soon as I can. Then the lunar lighting module. Review to come after I've set it up and figured it out!

So in order to hook my apex Jr up properly it says to install a Gfci outlet. So I got one...expensive at the local hardware store! Haha but it's better then not having one. Any helpful hints before installation? I'm going to shut the power off just to be safe and it's a pretty easy job as far as I remember. Haven't done it in awhile. Attachments:

you can shut power off and not worry or just dont touch both wires at the same time lol
btw- every plug you have near water should be in a gfi outlet.

I know I know.....doesn't really matter though because all the sockets around my tank are wired together so having one makes them all gfci outlets. Your right though I should of don't it along time ago.
