I know I know.....doesn't really matter though because all the sockets around my tank are wired together so having one makes them all gfci outlets. Your right though I should of don't it along time ago. with that logic you wouldnt need a gfi at all because your breaker box is a gfi also

lol you dont need to ask me, im not an electrician... but I do know a little about allot every outlet in your house is on a gfi, your breaker box the gfi outlet is for in wet locations. in wet locations there is good chance the outlet will get wet, so it will only trip that one outlet instead of every outlet on that circuit. if you dont care about every outlet on that circuit turning off it dosnt really matter....

I'm still confused? Haha So if that one outlet gets wet it'll trip the others? But if a different outlet gets wet it won't help at all? If that's how it is he should have specified that in the video!

ha ha I am watching the video now.... the first thing he says is anywhere there is a damp or wet location should have a gfi outlet
he also says if the gfi outlet is the FIRST in the circuit the others are protected if it is last the other outlets are not protected

to make it more confusing it also depends on 2 or 3 faze wire...
(not sure but) I think its kind of like like running parallel or in series.... I would have to go read one of my electrical books again
im sure there is an electrician on here that will correct me...

I'm not an electrician but I am a building maintenance person by trade so I too know a little about a lot. How a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupt) works is looking for a difference is current from one wire to another so if something shorts out( gets wet) it will trip off, a breaker doesn't do this it will only trip off if the amperage exceeds the rating(15 or 20amp) on most breakers so you can have a outlet in water and it won't trip the breaker unless it goes over the amps. The GFCI will trip however as long as it is hooked up correctly because it sees the current difference rather than only looking at amps. Hopefully I didn't confuse you

Apex Jr is finally completely up and running! Works great, takes a little getting used to at first I go to get up and shut off my lights because I've been doing it at the same time for almost a year and a couple times I've got close to the tank and Poof! Lol the lights shut off on their own. One button to shut all my pumps off for feed and best of all I can check everything on the front screen of my phone and without touching a button I see the temp and soon the ph. As soon as my web cam comes in I'll be able to see my tank when I'm gone right on my dashboard, especially helpful if something is wrong when your away and want to see if you can see the problem. Ato and lunar simulator is next. probably tomorrow! Haha

Anyone ever used the ph probe they sell on eBay? I know it's a shot in the dark because more then likely I'd they're cheap then they're unreliable and that's not a good thing for a ph probe controlling a dosing pump. Figured I'd at least try and ask maybe someone will say their the best... pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=351009566174&alt=web Like this one?
