I plugged my heater into the light switch because I took down my sump to put baffles in. Woke up this afternoon and tank was at 65 degrees. The acros look 50/50 some will die others will live. The polyps are spewing brown jelly. There dead.... I just got a frag of red dragon acro yesterday. Colored down still has skin but I'm giving it a 10% chance. My 10 inch clam... open but not happy.

Red dragon is dead.... I can see a small piece of skin pealing off.

 that sucks. I'm having heater issues as well. Starting to get very irritating. Good luck with the recovery process. |

Ugh. I'm so mad at myself. I'm crazy about me tank I work on it everyday and never lose any corals. It figures that I get a awesome coral like a red dragon and I do something so dumb.

Jeff... close though.  everything is recovering except the red dragon and the green slimer looks good but the polyups are not out yet. So its not in the clear. I just hope I can find another frag of red dragon without paying 100$ |

It happens to the best of us sometimes. Hopefully everything will recover. It always sucks no matter what though.

I was actually surprised that the pink palys are going to make it. They produced a lot of brown jelly but I kept sucking it up to make sure it didn't touch an acro and they are looking awesome now.

run allot of carbon its going to be a toxic war zone for a couple days. I hope you dont lose anything else dont worry about the dragon! just bring the plug back to me and I will refill it |

I just want to know how you got your tank down to 65 in this weather. Sometimes I have to turn my lights off just to keep it under 90.

I always recommend some sort of controller that will warn u the temperature is getting too low or high. I use a neptune controller. They can alarm, txt and egmail u if there is a problem. They r expensive about $450 but u only have to kill a few corals and it would have payed for its self. For those of u with 90gal tanks or larger it's a must have, I believe.

Believe me Jeff I had a temp spike years back that killed half of my corals, I know that shitty feeling of watching your hard work and money melt away. Hope everything recovers the best it can

Its doing really well everything bounced back after 24 hours. Once I got everything plugged back in. I redid the sump added baffles and PVC in a new pump. No more micro bubbles and no more worry that my tanks going to overflow. I did lose a cabbage coral, the acro and a hairy mushroom. Not to bad in the end considering that my tank is packed.
