Hey there! Brandy new member here and glad i found this place seems like its hard to find fellow salt water enthusiasts in my area Couple of questions for you all. Recently ive noticed some sort of filter feeder or perhaps a very small glass anemone? growing on one specific peice of live rock. ive had glass anemones before and have handled them with a paste treatment but they are few and far between. these however instead of being white or clear are BRIGHT red and very very small. any ideas on what it is and if i should be eliminating them with extreme prejudice? haha. Secondly im about to start up a 55 gallon tank and want to move into the world of reefs! Im looking to get into a LED setup that will grow anything my little heart desires to put in the tank its a standard 55gallon 48 inches across and such and id like not to spend over 800. under 600 would be much more preferable (id only have to sleep with the dog on the couch for a week or so as opposed to the foreseeable future haha) the big thing im looking for beyond the ability to grow anything would be noise. Im fussy about how loud my aquarium is..... any recommendations? Thanks in advance for any help, and im excited to be here! PS. I currently run a 4 light T5 setup with dual fans on my 30 gallon and the noise drives me up the frickin wall!

Welcome to the forum! I'm pretty new to this myself so im not a huge help but I do know reefbreeders has some good LED lights that are affordable. You should be able to get one there im thinking around 350-400 for a light to cover a 55 gal. Just out of curiosity, what area are you from?

Go to reefbreeders.com and look up the Photon32. I have the 24 and for the money they are hard to beat. also, you should post your location in your profile. Welcome to the site.

just make sure you set up the tank in your "second choice" spot in your house, so when you upgrade to a 75g you wont have to move the 55g to set up the 75g or 90g.or 120g or 180g or........ p.s. 75g tanks are on sale for $150
