We have a 10 gallon just sitting around and have begun fishless cycling. We'd like to do something different with it . D you have any unique or unusual ideas for us?

if you have another tank go all microfauna..then you have an entirely different environment and can feed your other tank.

Thank you for all of the great ideas! We're still in the deciding stage. Cycle is going well, ammonia is dropping, waiting for nitrites to show up.
I thought we'd need a larger tank for carpet nems..?
What lighting would you suggest for this size tank for nems?

Thank you for the links! A Maxi mini carpet nem garden sounds easy to maintain, and quite different than our other tanks. We'll continue to research our options. Something with mangroves sounds interesting as well.
This is the fun part! Cycling and decision making for a new tank!
Ammonia continues to drop and Nitrites finally showed up this morning, so the cycle is coming along.

Cycle is still coming along. Still thinking and researching what to put in here.
Questions: Can a clam be kept successfully in this small of aquarium? What would we need for lighting?

Before aforable leds i would have said no way. But they are some 2blue 1 white ie 3x1w GU10 leds on ebay. They are about $6 each with socket. As far as wiring goes its the easiest and they are surprisingly bright. A strip of 5 or 6 on a 10 would knock its socks off. The bigger issue with a clam may be super clean water. That and feeding it if its less than 2". Tough but certainly doable in a 10. What are you thinking for life support?

I've had my maxima clam in my ten gallon for over two years now. Watch your Alk and cal as they suck it up quick as they grow.
