Thank you guys! That lighting sounds good, and very affordable.. I agree that it would be a challenge to keep a 10 gal. pristine, but I think it's doable and I don't mind the water changes. Also, thinking maybe we could put a couple of mangroves in the back as well to help with nutrient export. Could we still do the Maxi carptes with a clam? - I love the colors and we would want some anemone shrimp and crab. Another thing that we might be able to do is tie it in with the 38 somehow, so we'd have the benefit of more water volume sharing the same heater and filter. Do you have an idea on how we could do that? The 10 gal. sits on a small dresser next to our 38 gal. right now. We already have a Calcium test kit, but will have to pick up an alkalinity test kit. Seamonkey, What do you use for dosing? Still wating on our fishless cycle.....patiently. Ammonia 0, Nitrites .5, Nitrates 80.....so it's coming along. It's amazing to me the life from LR that makes it through a cycle! We've seen bristle worms, lots of tiny featherdusters, some other type of worm, tiny micro star, pods, and an Aiptasia (now gone, blasted with lemon juice).

with a mini nem garden I would keep it at just that, mini nems. they are mean and can kill anything else in the tank.
