Well, my boss had a freshwater tank in his office. Yesterday, it decided to spring a leak. He decided he was done. Managed to save a few of the fish and put them in a bowl. He was gonna just toss them. A coworker said No and told him I keep fish. So I go into work last night and am handed a Beta, kuhli loach, and a baby pleco. Along with a 5 gal bucket of food and chemicals. I have always wanted to do a planted tank so I decided this was the push I needed. I picked up a Aqueon Edgelit 6gal, Aqueon clip on plant light, and a bag of Fluval Stratum. Tank is up and running. Dosed with Nite out II used the old tank's biofilter and some old tank water. I will post pics when it finally settles out.

Yeah I got the tank 50% off. Im not sure on the type of pleco looks like a tiger. Probably wont be a resident long. We will see how fast it grows.

Cool! Just get them or were they adopted? Never have kept those before. Do they require live foods?

Just got them, these ones inhale flakes as soon as they touch the water. Topsham petco is selling them for 2.99

May have to check them out. Live bearers? Do you know the genus and species of these particular ones? I have brackish tank and half-beaks would be a cool addition, if they came from brackish areas.

Yes they are live bearers. I lost 1 last night cause the other 2 are eating and active. I think they are Dermogenys Pusilla Albinos.

That would be the wrestling halfbeak. Can be found in brackish waters😊 Where there many left at the store?

They had a ton and they seem to be ordering them in regularly.

Well, I lost the beta. Pretty sure to columnaris. I couldn't get meds in time. It was an older fish and probably the stress of going through the tank break, dropped into a bowl, then in a new tank was too much for it's immune system. I am giving the whole tank a round of Erythromycin and General cure to nip any potential issues in the bud. Plants are ordered. Hopefully they come in soon.
