I don’t regularly talk with her directly so I figured I’d ask on here to see if anyone knows what the scoop is. Seems super odd that aquacorals would be dropping tropic Marin salt.

Did anyone see her last email which talks about her deciding to PROMOTE testing water parameters, a change in her "method". Wonder if her tropic salts has anything to do with that?

Odd that she would preach Tropic Marin Pro Reef for years and now change over to RSCP... Could these two salts be any more different, especially with alk. Not a big deal at all because she can do what she wants; however, she would push her way as the only and right way of doing things. Interesting.

Tropic Marin salt was making her corals die and she didn't know why her helper convinced her to check her water she did and discovered the tropic Marin salt had dangerously low parameters of calcium magnesium and Kh she contacted Tropic Marin and they sent new salt that was just as bad so she dumped them.

Wow, surprised it took so long but glad she finally checked. I tried for the longest time to get her to pay closer attention to her water parameters with little success. I stopped using tropic marin pro reef years ago because of the low Alk. Hopefully things turn around for her.

She said that she noticed something for a little over a year. The dkh was the worst out of the three major ones, it varied a lot and sometimes was decent and sometimes was around 5 depending on batch.

Just a thought. I remember starting and she encouraged a salinity of 1.024. I wonder if mixed to 1.026 of the alk would still be that low.

How does salinity affect alk?

It takes more salt mix for the higher salinity, which in turn would add more alk to the water.

Would the difference between 1.024 and 1.026 be significant enough? Someone should test it.
