Stating a thread for my new tank it will probably be over a year before its up but thought it'dbe fun from the start. So far got a 40b for main display 20l for custom fuge/ sump may upgrade sump to another 40b plumbing in the old 30xh as a frag/fuge2 tank. Current equipment plans are Glass holes oveflow on left side as I'm going for a pennisula design Vortech mp10 right side A reef octopus skimmer Coralvue razor or 2 kessils for lighting Undecided in ato, doser, and controller Also going to use dry marco rock and try some live framing and building my own stand Will take a while and be an expensive bill but I've learned my lessons about cheaping it out over the last 5 years

Nice. Be sure to update with pictures. As a side note, I was in the Bangor PetCo yesterday. Nice selection of drygoods and livestock. I bought a loose mushroom and 2 hermits.

As the title goes slow as a snail! I havn't got anything new lately. I'm just thinking of my time in the hobby and how livestock has always taken presence over equipment. Being eager and setting up a system with bare minimals while dropping good money on quality livestock is a recipe for disaster. I'm currently working on finishing up my 24 Nano cube, then I'm going to start peicing this together and incorporating the new equipment in my current 30xh and when everything is ready set it all up in the 40B. Some of the things I need to do to the 24 are an ATO (I realized this when I went on vacation and needed co-workers to stop in the office for me), also my office is stupid hot in the summer and now I'm finding it's extra cold in the winter. Last summer my tank was a 80-82 when I switched to the Kessil and went open top temps stayed at a steady 77, now that winter is here my 100w heater can't keep the tempurature up overnight and it drops to about 74......after having the old heater fail in this tank on a friday before the end of work I'm also going to upgrade to a heater controller and probably a 125 or even 150 watt titanium heater, finally I want to do an Skyye 6500k LED light on the middle chamber after scraping off the paint and grow some cheato, add a intank media basket and the tank is DONE! After this I'll be focusing more on the 40b. I plan to switch the Cube to a mixed tank with Softies and some sandbed LPS (mailny Acans). The 40B will be a mixed reef with two rock piles/island (havn't really decided on the scape) the one closest to powerhead will be all SPS with the other being all LPS and again lots of sandbed LPS probably will have mostly Favias, and a couple random Zoa rocks. I havn't even started a stocking list yet....but I'm thinking of doing a small school of fish like chromis or cardinals, and with the fuge up and running and rock established for over 5 years I'll wait a while after this gets going still but I will definately make another attempt at a Mandarin.

Here's my new ATO...almost done I've got a float switch with a aqualifter plugged in. The aqualifter is pulling water from the bottom of a 5 gallon homer pail however the air tubing keeps floating so I'm going to drill a small peice of PVC to anchor it down. I'm also going to be getting a Tsunami AT1 and use this as my primary ato switch and raise the current float switch higher so if the tsunami fails the other float will turn the power to the pump off. (copied Greg from cultivated reef & got this stuff from him too).

So I started this plan on a 40b...and got a saw, I as going to incorporate my 30xh in it but due to too many limitations and the weird size I'm not. I'm not allowed anything bigger than a 40 surprisingly I designed a 80" long double pennisula stand that is going to hold my 40b on the left and a 30b on the right. The design will be zenlike and look awesome I need to scan my drawings. I plan on the 40 being a display the 30 will be a frag/bta tank however it will have ball valves in the pumbing and it's own sump so it can quickly be converted to a quarenteen depending on my needs. I'm actully going to build two stands the exact same size and wrap them with paneling, they will share plumbing and electrical controls and one sump when running as a frag tank. Drawings will be posted soon, getting lumber this weekend to start!

ditching the 30b frag tank idea and going with 2 40b's price for a 30b was $90 and when I can do the petco deal and safe $50 I can't justify it...might drop one of them lower than the other for looks. Hoping to buy lumber and start building the stand soon.

I got a circular saw for christmas and started putting it to use. This is the frame for my stand, I'm going to add 4 more vertical support 2x4s then use 2x4's vertically to reinforce them between the frames, but right now I'm pretty pleased with this work in progress.

That's the same way I started my stand. Don't forget to add plenty of diagonal supports. Looks good man!

Just secured 2 Kessil a150w's 10k on E-bay @ the price the decision was all too easy. I'm thinking of putting an deap ocean blue Kessil in the middle with a 10k on each side for a little bluer tint..I'll be curious to see what they look like as I currently have the 14k They are amazing little lights.

Okay so I got lazy, I couldn't get the stand to come out right it was all warped and I wanted a bigger fuge, I took the stand apart and intended on doing it a bit different, however the Metal 40B Brooklyn stand went on closeout at petco for $45, I bought 2. My plan is to go with 3 40's, and 1 20H. I'm going to do a 40 display on a stand to the left, a 40 fuge on the floor in the middle (enclosed) and a 40 on a stand on the left to act as frag/qt setup. I will have a 20 under the frag tank and plan on being able to have it run solo in the event of a QT. I'll draw a diagram soon, looking at plumbing options.
