A good rule of thumb in my opinion is to always buy a skimmer that is rated 1.5 - 2 times what your tank is. If you get a bigger skimmer for a smaller tank, its going to give you a lot more wiggle room with your fish bioload. I saved the extra money and bought a CoralVue Super Reef Octopus 3000 internal Protein skimmer for my 120 with a heavy bioload and its absolutely the best investment I've made for my tank so far. The protein skimmer is one of the most important pieces of equipment to buy for any reef tank and shouldn't be skimped on. SRO 3000int- larger but a bit more expensive. www.aquacave.com/Reef-Octopus-SUPER-SRO-3000INT-In-Sump-Protein-Skimmer-P2914C657.aspxSRO 2000int- Smaller, You could probably do fine with it depending on how many fish you plan to keep and how dirty your water is. www.aquacave.com/Reef-Octopus-SUPER-SRO-2000INT-In-Sump-Protein-Skimmer-P2913C657.aspxAquacave has about the best pricing on these skimmers. Wait till around Thanksgiving and Christmas, They almost always do 10% off sales on everything. Most of the Protein skimmer rated for 125 gallons on the market right now are really only good for 75-100 gallons or less with light bioloads. If its possible I would recommend saving for the SRO3000. They are awesome and come with a 3 year warranty on the pump! Plus CoralVue has excellent customer service.

We've purchased base rock and clean up crews from Reefcleaners.org - They have nice base rock and only $2 per pound for 50 pounds and free shipping! They also have cleaning crews with free shipping, and they always send more snails than what they say in their quick crew packages.

Not sure if everyone knows this or not but at least the Augusta Petco gets their livestock in on thursdays, usually in the afternoons. I like to try and get there before the fish are unbagged if I'm going to buy anything that way I get first pick. Seen lots of cool stuff up there before and its getting into that time of year when they start ordering more saltwater fish.
Seamonkey84, do you guys get livestock the same day in Portland? Anything good for fish and inverts on sale right now?

Thursday is our fresh water delivery, I get salt water in just about every day from the various vendors I order from, usually everything is here by 11 am. If its a special order, ill call you and won't release it into tank if you're able to pick it up within an hour or two. All sales run for about a month, so still the same same items, not much left to speak of though, sold out of alot and haven't gotten them in yet for this week. Turbo snails just came in, still on sale for 1.99 ea
