Hey guys I just started a small 4 gallon reef tank and I love corals with all kinds of colors so of course I was drawn right to the idea of a ZOA garden!! I would like to know how all of you are getting good growth and fragging of this type of coral. Post pics of your high end zoas or leave a coment that will help me learn a little more about the care to be successful.
Thanks for all your help....

4 gallon tank is going to need daily water changes to be successful. I've had a few Picos and they are tough to keep steady with corals but if you're disciplined enough to do your water changes you'll be fine.

Couple things I always try to make sure of is.... #1- Make sure the zoas are aqua cultured #2-Make sure they're from similar lighting (if you have leds get them from people or retailers that use leds) #3-They will probably take time to start growing great but once they start multiplying don't frag them! Let them continue to grow because obviously the more you have the more the baby's will spit out. #4- I've found that 90% of all zoas grow better in lower light from leds. I keep a lot of mine under overhangs out of direct lights. My leds are turned up really high to though

I don't know that you have to do daily water changes if you aren't planning on fish- I have a 4 gallon with just softies in it and it's doing great with weekly-biweekly water changes. I don't have any fish though, so I imagine it would be harder to keep the parameters in check if you did

I have one. Its expensive for what it is. Jams a lot. Your better off getting a Jeboa wp10 for $20 more.

Just realize this was for 4g. I'd be a better choice due to size constraints

Check out the solar flares. They are 3w a couple of them might work. I have a 6500k one running the mini fuge on the back of my 24 with really good cheato growth. They are $25 each. Lance has a similar tank with an assortment of small Leds over it maybe he will chime in.

Does any one know the safest way to change out the sand in my tank? when I first started I put in about and inch of white sand, after seeing other peoples tank I would like to make it thinner and change it to black sand, any ideas on how not to mess with tanks chemistry??

I just switched from black to white sand. I've heard people say to change it out gradually but I couldn't think of a way to do it without getting the two colors mixed together. I did it all at once because there's nothing in there right now-looks like it's going through another cycle too
