I can't believe this...lol "I never take advice from anyone that tells me "It has to be done like this or you will fail"" If you don't run a heater...YOU WILL FAIL!! uh ohh...lol =a JOKE. Know what a joke is?? I have literally referenced Bob Fenner and Anthony Calfo only...hardly "almost every author". And you absolutely right Brian, there are many ways to do things...such as have raw water go right into the fuge. Many success stories out there with that one. THAT was the point I was trying to make.

So ..... 40 breeders right? Please approach this forum in a respectful manner, regardless of who it is, as everyone has knowledge and input. Thank you.

I have a 40b sump under my 180g but I am partial to 40L tanks, imo- all around more room to work with. basically with a 40b the chambers are around 12" long and 18" wide with a 40L your chambers can be the same dimensions just opposite 18"long and 12" wide. flow rate threw the sump depends on your return pump, the size and amount of chambers in the sump will determine the flow rate threw that particular part in the sump. its personal preference and your equipment.

People who have 40 breeders.... Can you please share how you set them up? Please be very specific and include pictures if possible?
For example: first chamber is 12 inches long with a 10 inch high baffle from sump bottom... Etc......

Oh and if you were still thinking about a remote fuge...I dropped into Petsmart yesterday for some cat toys and I saw a marineland 27 "cube" I took a pic of its tag, it is 20"W x18"D x20"H. A very interesting size that would fit very nicely next to a 40 breeder

It was a "kit" so I'm not sure. I'm sure any local marineland supplier should be able to get one for you/give you a quote. Def a neat sized tank though!
