Metal halides will definitely grow anything you want but LEDs can be bought for close to the same price and are way more efficient, heat wise, cost wise and electricity wise. Skip the halides and go with LEDs, even I'm planning on switching from 250watt halides to LEDs.

I looked at LED.... but for $300 or under its a no go...unless its a DIY kit. I was interested in the Multyichip 50-100watt leds... kinda like a DIY kessil. I need more growth so I figure add more light

Need something clean and professional looking so I stay in good with the wife.... I don't have a canopy to hide 30 gu10 bulbs with wires everywhere or the bland heatsinks that come with DIY LEDs

mine is in the basement so I put a board across the floor joist and used black chain alog with the hanging kit that came with the light
if it were in my living room I would have a nice piece of 3/4" pine route the edges and paint it white then use a white hook screwed into that. you would never see it and if you were looking for it (the wifey) it looks pro!

I installed my LEDs by hanging them from the wall, so I basically installed one of those little shelfs (can get them at home depot or Lowe's) so it also serves a decorative purpose as well.

couple weeks, and then it takes 3-5 days to get them (just made an order a week or so ago)
