So first my tank goes down to 64 degrees because of the heater switched off. Then the AC got unplugged and my tank went up to 91 degrees a week later.,.... so today. O today. Im on my way home for lunch and look at my phone... 11 missed calls. The fuse blew in the living room causeing the return pump to act like a overflow draining my tank into my sump. Guess what you can't fit a 60 gallon inside a 20 gallon it tried. So the good news. Only lost some small frags, clam , acros, and all the major stuff made it. Bad news.... 35 gallons of water in my livingroom then drained into my basement. Pink birdsnest is dead green birdsnest half alive. The new monapora that I got from Rob died. A lot of the corals are half dead. I think the acros actually liked being out of the water. Anyway shitty week. Figured I'd vent.

Oh man, sorry to hear this, you've had quite the bad luck streak! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

There was about 4 inches left in the tank. Thank God! My clam would have never made it.

I'm sure you already know this now but your return pipe should be near the surface, also a battery back up is a good idea, I run one for my return pump and heater only that way if the power goes out I have about 6 hours of back up power to keep my tank alive

Did you have some form of siphon break on your return line to keep it from back flowing?

Did you have some form of siphon break on your return line to keep it from back flowing? Don't most people use check valves on the return line?

I dont use a check valve on my return lines.... I use a siphon break (a small hole in the return lines that sucks air to break the siphon)...

I just put that pump in like 3 days ago and forgot to drill the whole. The night before I remembered and told my wife that I had to do it tomorrow. Well that was a day late.

And yes I have a battery backup but not sure if it helped. Still don't have all the details on what time the fuse blew. My son and friend unplugged everything before they where told to get the hell out of there.... unwashed at work my neighbor told them the could be electrocuted
