My 40b Reef tank and stand build

Most of the wood I purchased from Home Depot in the scrap section. Boy was that a mistake. Quite crooked, but I made due with what I bought. The rest I talked my brother into giving me out of his cache.

Once I got the basics of it built, I caulked the entire thing, inside and out. I had some pretty large gaps on the inside due to the warped wood.

Picked up the Krylon Fusion spray paint, and painted the entire rear panel of the tank. Standard black.

Used a DJ power strip inside the cabinet to plug all the hardware into. Actually very handy. Now I need to label it so I don't confuse myself. Not too hard to do.



My magdrive return pump. The output is a half inch thread. My return lines and bulkhead are 3/4", so I had to put together this adapter.



Finally some water in there



Sump and plumbing put together. Sand bed for my filtration.





Added my bubble algae, and a cheap light for the time being.

I need more rock. Haha. That 50lbs looks like nothing at the moment

Nice job. A word of caution though about your skimmer. I've personally seen a bunch of those putting off stray voltage into aquarium water and the maxi jet pumps that power them as far as I know have the same issues with rusting impellers that the maxi jet power heads have had.
