Note to self.....sand sifting sea cucumbers kill fish when they move out of the refugium and get diced up in the intake of the main return pump. So far at least six fish and a cucumber are dead. Crapy morning!

I appreciate it rob but I think I got it under control. Lost my 4 lyre tail anthias, 2 of my azure damsels and the sea cucumber. My one tang is stressed out still but I just put in some new activated carbon and did a pretty good sized water change. It's always the little things you never expect to happen that actually do happen I guess. Lesson learned this time.

Well at least everybody else in my tank survived, especially my hippo tang and my last two azure damsels and my Melanarus wrasse. It would have sucks to loose any more fish. I still have engineer, my mandarin, springeri dotty back and my pair of clowns as well.

Yea, I'm a glass half full kinda guy LOL! Plus I've seen a whole lot worse die off in reef tanks before so I count myself lucky it was only 6 fish and a cucumber. It coulda been my whole tank dying.

I was always under the impression that the sand sifting cucumbers didn't have the toxins in them like the sea apples and similar ones. Oh we'll. Ill still keep them just not near any pumps.
