Ive havde my nano up for a bit now and these are my paramaters: PH: 8.2 KH: 11 Percent Temp 80 nitrates: 0 salinity 1.025 calcium: 600
I have a blizzard clown and a watchman goby that are happy but my corals arent so happy. I have 4 grees mushroom about 2" and they have been not opening as much and my liams cloves dont seem to be opening as much as they have. my bubble gum monster chaliace and cate eye zoas have showed no sign of change and still looking great. Ive also tried a few different placements but not affect.
Ive done a few water changes to try to reduce the calcium level but i cant get it to drop. I use kent reef salt. might this be the culprit because other than that i cant figure it out.
Any suggestions?

what is mag levels? without mag your tank cant use the calcium....... could be the issue why your ca levels wont go down

I would test for Mg before adding anything else to your tank.

dont add anything you cant test for! but to raise mag I use epsom salt
to be honest I dont even test anything except kh and mag. if the 2 are fine I know everything else is to

The KH is toward the high end so isn't the Ca? I imagine your mag would be okay because with values that high I would think something would precipitate out, also it doesn't appear you have too much livestock to utilize ca and kh. I was using kent and would have ca values around 550-600 and kh around 3 everything was miserable I switched to instant ocean (the regular kind) and everything seems to be in better balance, I does 3ml of brightwell 2x weekly and 5ml of brightwell ca 1-2x weekly, I have quite a bit of hard corals and 4-5 SPS colonies everything is much happier as opposed to when I used kent.

if ca and kh is high it might be because ca isnt being used corals need 2 parts mag for every 1 part ca or it cant use it

The Kent salt has higer levels of ca and Mg added. I'm curious to see what your test shows, also have you tested just your mixed water? When I had kent it was like 550ca 1440mg and 6kh, this is why I switched salts, plus Instant ocean is 30% less $$ let us know what you find out.
