I copied a guy on nano-reef. The Nano cube has black rear chambers and it's essentially a plastic paper like substance adhered to the glass. I took a razor blade and cut it out where it covers chamber two. I purchased a LED light to attempt to grow cheato. The light I was looking at was an innovative Marine that costs $70 it has 6 1 watt LEDs. I decided on a cheaper option. I purchased a 3 watt 6700k solar flare by deep blue it is a single LED but extremely bright and was 1/3 the cost of the innovative light. If it's not bright enough for whatever reason I can add a second and still be under budget. I get the Cheato tomorrow and will share my results with this light.

So it's ben almost 2 weeks, the cheato is still alive, when i bought it there were some strands that seemed to be greenish transparent, it is now a very solid green and appears to be bigger all from a 3w LED light. I changed the location of the light to above the chamber instead of through the glass because the its coverage was very narrow so close. It is doing better covering everything from above. The biggest drawback is the suction cup mount and I have not even attempted to use it I simply created a U with the gooseneck and it hangs over the edge. Overall I'm happy with the results from this product for the price and will continue to monitor cheato growth there doesn't appear to be any need for a second light.

I think this light is great for applications where the fuge is small, multiple lights would be needed for a bigger tank.
