The power outage and extreme flooding took its toll. The cafe de Bangkok tank in hallowell went five days without no power and flooding that got into the building. The flood water from the kennebec river brought close to 18 inches of water into the main floor of the restaurant. The brute trash can I use for mixing saltwater shows the high water mark. All is not lost though. Tuesday morning as the flood water was rising I was able to go in and rescue 7 fish and most of the corals. Unfortunately I ran out of physical space for corals and rocks and literal time. Unfortunately I had to leave behind a hundred or so green mushrooms and some other random soft corals that were attached to the largest rocks. All that said, I was able to keep the majority it the livestock alive by bringing everything home and adding it all to my basement coral pond. Today I went in, assessed the damage and got the tank up and going with the main pump, heater and skimmer running and trying to heat the 42 degree water and start cleaning up the dead coral slime.

Wow, I was wondering how their tank fared while I was driving by yesterday... So glad to hear that most of it was saved! Bless your heart!

Wow, I was wondering how their tank fared while I was driving by yesterday... So glad to hear that most of it was saved! Bless your heart! I only had time for two trips back and forth from there to my home to save as much as I could. It sucks we lost as many of the green mushrooms as we did but I saved at least a hundred or so along with most of the other corals.

All the corals and established rocks went in on top of the new sand and bleached old rocks. So far so good but as expected I’m dealing with diatoms.

Photos are a little out of order but this was the process of putting the tank back together. All new plumbing, moved the sump to the right side, Al new sand, bleached and soak the old rocks that were left behind during the flood and added them back once the salt was mixed in the tank.
