Anyone on here dosing kalkwrasser to maintain stable alk and calcium?

I dose it at night via a peristaltic pump. My tank is young and alk demand is low so I don’t see a raise in ph yet. I mix to full saturation and probably only dose a few cups an evening, not enough to see a ph bump.
I use 2 part during the day.

That’s kinda what I planned to do. I dose BRS 2 part right now with a pair of Ecotech versa pumps and things have been growing really well but I struggle to keep my,PH above 8. I plan to get a third versa pump to start adding kalkwrasser and slowly ramp it up until I get to 8.3. I’ve got the apex with ph probe to monitor it once I start dosing.

I have been using reef fusion part 1 an 2 for a while now and have unbelievable coral growth, my montipora I have to cut every couple months and my main piece is about the size of a soccer ball right now.I have also taken about 15 frags from my hammer coral since the beginning of the year.

My tank has had a few hiccups over the past 6 months and things are finally growing again. My ph drops to 7.9-8.0 at night even when dosing Kalk, I’m dosing a very small amount currently so I would not expect it to do much. I hope when I increase my dose I’ll see the bump. Ph can hit 8.2 on a good day.

That’s kind of how I want to start out, by dosing a little at a time in conjunction with my two part dosing. I figure once I get a third versa pump, I’ll start off low and build up each day until I see an increase in my PH, alk and calcium and then I’ll slowly taper off the 2 part if needed.

I am eventually going to have to replace my pump, it’s a brs 50 ml/m drawing from one floor below. It is actually only pulling 10ml/m due to the distance. I am controlling it via apex, not sure how long it will last coming on every 009:30 for 000:30 in the evening hours.
How do you like the versa? Seems like an investment. Maybe I’ll put in for a few raffles at Fragsgiving this year.

I see that Part 1 contains rubidium but they don’t say much about it. Seems like this element is a hot topic currently. Randy and the owner of Moonshiners have a thread on R2R debating its benefits. I have rubidium in my tank, I have no idea how it got there as I don’t dose it and it is not listed on the salt ingredients. Most likely comes in on the frozen food I feed. No question here, just a curious additive to the Part 1. |
