question Chi, you see the second pic of the mushroom how the top shroom is blue but in the first its a weird color...well, when i was placing things in there, i think i somehow hit it and caused it to detatch itself. I decided to look up how people frag and everyone said superglue. The color was kind of fading before but then i glued her down and she's done nothing but get more pale. Did i kill her? What should i do with her dead? cut her off the rock? Sigh... I should have asked first...

I can't see the pic cause I'm at work, but I doubt it's dead it may be a bit stressed. I have problems gluing shrooms, it never seems to take. The times when I did have it take I glued it and put it in a very low flow area so the glue would set. There's no point in taking it off the rock, if it does die it won't affect the healthy ones, but I think it will probably come back.

None look dead to me, shrooms do funny things when stressed, like spew out long white stringy stuff like silly string lol, but they are pretty hardy. If the glue don't hold you can take a plastic cup cut the bottom off so the cup is about 3-4" stuff it into the sand half way and put the shroom in it with some small rubble of you want. It will attach itself pretty fast.

So, I figured I'd update some pics of the growth on my corals.... these are my pink and gold palys that went from 2 to 11 so far but theres more and more every day... here is the hammerhead, its gotten bushier and is gorgeous, and the spounge on it's base which is also growing like crazy... here are my mushrooms, one came off the rock but he's chillin on the sand next to this rock that you cant see and the green stripe disappeared, but there are two new teeny babies plus the baby it came with. The new ones are barley visible in the pic but they're almost under the big purple mushroom. They're on the very top of the rock and just underneath the very top (if that makes sense) these are a brown mushroom I got from a friend's tank that have little bubbles on them... these are the button corals that started at two but now there are 4, the 4th isnt visible in the pic... this is a diff brown mushroom...since ive gotten it, it hasnt reproduced yet, but has gotten huge (not spread out in the pic) and pretty colorful.... these are the star polyps that started out with maybe one or two... oh yeah, remember that frogspawn and hammerhead i had that all died on me? Well thanks to Jess, I didnt throw them away, and LOOK!!! YAY! and this is mr.bubbles, he hasnt gotten any bigger per say, but he's starting to tint in color and he's FINALLY settled down into his spot! Today is the first time ive seen his tentacles stretching out like this though, but he looks pretty! oh, and since my zoa's arent wanting to open the last few days, i discovered that they also have little tiny feather dusters on them... Oh, and along with the feather dusters and the starfish, theres a little baby snail, probably a bit smaller than a pencil eraser, SO cute lol... Just thought I'd share my sucess so far, especially since you guys always hear about my issues LOL Rob, you were right, this light grows anything! Thanks everyone for your help so far. You're all awesome!

Watch the gold and pink palys they grow and take over anything close. I regret ever putting them in my tank. If you.don't mind having a tank full of them then your OK. My problem was they tried to take over all my acros. Took me 2 days to get them out of my tank and there still popping up. Seems like you have had a lot of corals die? Or I can be mistaken. Do you have a certain coral that has been doing well for a long time?

The pink and golds have gone from 2 to about 11 or 12 that I can see but I can see why they could take over seeing how FAST they've multiplied! As far as my corals dying...my THEORY is that, the corals that have died are ALL from the same guy who told me (stupid me for ignoring a red flag) that he was breaking his tank down because he didn't like taking care of them and that he just started letting his tank go. the corals that have died are the branching hammer, the branching frogspawn (which has a new head) and the zoas are just crumbling now I honestly dont know what to do. Will they spike nitrates in my tank? I'm thinking the whole rock is on its way out. SO upset, those were all such pretty corals and they were big pieces. I will be breaking the tank down soon to get ALL the sand and crushed coral thats in there now and replacing it with sugar sized grain and then put a small layer on top of my sand.

I think you will see a difference in nitrates even with only a thin layer of sand.
