From what I hear its amazing, I'm looking into getting one myself, and they are supposed to be good reef lights. Aqua corals is running them on her main tanks and I think they look gorgeous.

Depending on the size of your tank and how much you want "features" The Kessil A150W might be a good option, I've enjoyed mine so much I ordered 2 more...I have been debatinb between them or a Maxspect Razor I believe both are good products and are spoken highly of by most reefers.

Kessils are $225 new online, used they are averaging $180-200 per light. You need more of them if you have a long tank and they work better in tanks under 20" tall. I have 1 for my cube and 2 will be sufficient for a 40B but I'll probably eventually add a third but that's more to blend the color than anything I jumped on 2 10k's and will probably add a 20k in the middle. They also use 18watts each and are supposed to be comparable to a 150w halide so they are easier on the electric bill. They tend to run a little bluer than stated color and that may take some getting used to, I heard the 10k's look more like 12 and the 14's are extremely blue but the look grew on me..it makes things pop. As far as features they are on or off...nothing special but they are the size of a flashlight and their output is simply amazing, I think they are a cheaper alternative in initial cost and long term on electric bills if you can live without the bells and whistles if you have a really big/deep tank there is the A350W which is a step up but I've heard more complaints about the larger unit being too bright and there is very little negative about the A150W it is probably one of the best investments...not to mention all the extra growth and frags you get by having a quality light too!

Jess it would need 2 A150W's or 1 A350W. How deep is it again? Another option you can do is run just one in the center and move all the coral close as you'd have dark spots, then save up and buy another..it hurts less than dropping the money all at once, or mount your PC's at the very back of your tank and run the Kessil towards the front...also if you have any supports in the middle of a tank it will leave a shadow though I think this is common of all LEDS.

Depth is really important with this light, I put my Kessil over the 30xh 24" deep and it was brighter front and center but the deeper I looked the less I noticed a difference, the 30xh may have done better with 2. I think 1 kessil per 25 gallons seems to work for most as long as the tank isn't deeper than 18

Congrats on the Razor. Make use of the different lighting settings at different times. One thing I didn't mention about the Kessil is because it's either on or off it's max power, so I find that anything over an 8 hr photo-period has adverse effects on my system including algae blooms. Remember to start dimmer with shorter photo periods and work your way up, because you can select the brightness you should be able to run 10-12 photo periods with no ill-effect if you set it right. I'd do a bit of research on how other people are using this feature with the Maxspect then you'll already have some plans when it comes in. Let us all know how you like it.
