Hey everyone,
I just heard about this community from a fellow aquarist at Petco and thought it would be fun to look into. I've been keeping freshwater/planted tanks for about 14 years or so and recently decided to give saltwater a go! I picked up a used Biocube 29 and cycled it with some liverock for about a month. My lighting is a Rapid LED reef setup (not sure on the exact specs) Once that month mark hit and my parameters were stable I think I went a little crazy stocking my setup, but my parameters have been good with frequent water changes. I currently have 2 turbo snails, an emerald crab, banded coral shrimp, 2 red legged hermit crabs, 1 green chromis, 1 occelaris clown, a chocolate chip starfish, and a pincushion urchin. I just today added a feather duster, sebae anemone and a kenya tree coral. Getting over excited about being able to add new organisms to my tank I completely forgot that the starfish will likely eat the feather duster and tree coral. Has anyone had this happen? Also, I definitely overlooked how difficult anemones can be. My sebae looks better than it did when I purchased it, but from what I understand it likely wont survive, especially in a setup this new. I have found my emerald crab reaching into the anemones mouth and pulling out the mysis shrimp i feed it. I don't run RO or a protein skimmer since it's a small tank and I do regular water changes. Should I be adding supplements or anything like that? Definitely looking to slow things down to figure out what i'm doing, and to do things right, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
