Where in the Bahamas do you go? Maine winters are wearing on me... Is that a goliath?

My familys house is on Eleuthera. Its a great island that divides the Atlantic from the Caribbean. It is a goliath; my friend has these in big round cages on his wharf. Along with other big groupers- he works with the University of Miami with grouper breeding. He also has some other cool fish he keeps as pets There was this one reef we went to with some cool christmas tree worms- I was able to get a few pictures but nothing like the diversity we saw deeper. Saw so many Queen Angels, I wish I could fit a bigger tank in my cottage so I could keep one.

Does anyone know what kind of anemone that is? It was pretty small.

Sweet! We like to watch Caribbean Life and Bahamas Life shows on tv. If you haven’t seen them, they are shows about folks moving to the Caribbean and buying houses/cottages/condos. Of the places we’ve seen on the shows, the Bahamas is most appealing to us.
Looking at the pics above on my phone, so can’t make out the anemone. Which photo is it in? I will look tonight on a bigger screen.
Cool project with the groupers! It seems, at least in Florida waters, the goliaths are making a come-back.

Oops I see the anemone now. Will have to look it up, but it might be a flower anemone.

Check out red warty anemone (Bunodosoma granulifera) or most likely warty sea anemone (B. cavernatum).

You're welcome. Paul Humann and Ned Deloach have a great series of marine life in the Caribbean/Florida/Bahamas. Probably have asked you before, but do you see many lionfish in your area? One of the shows we watched not to long ago was on Eleuthera. Beautiful place.

The lion fish population is declining- at least from what Ive seen over the years. The Island School and the Bahamian National Trust and a few other organizations have been giving talks and showing the locals information and demonstrations on how to properly take the spines out and how to cook them. It seems to be working! Seeing lion fish on the menu more and more. Plus, a lot of locals will eat ANY fish, even fish like baracudda that could make you sick. Im very happy to report they are getting a handle on them, at least in the areas we are.

Excellent! Florida has an extensive network for lionfish removal. I would guess it must be having some positive effect as you’ve seen.
