One of the club meets. For 100 lifetime points, can you name the people in the photos? These are some old pictures!!! What if I remember setting up the meeting hahaha that's when I was on the board for saltwater addicts of maine.... Sux not having an actual club making $$ anymore... making $$ is how we afforded to fly Anthony and Frank here. The main reason the club dissolved is 1/2 wanted to go not for profit and half wanted to get paid to be on the board of directors, the treasurer quit the site director stole the $$ and poof no more club Would be nice to do again I wanted not for profit because that's what vendors started requiring to give donations for yearly raffle... Haha! You get a few points😀 I didn't think the club should have been for profit either. Not large enough membership to warrant it IMO, or pay the board members.

Well at one point we were making good $$ with 200+ pd members and about 350 members total... and bringing in about 3k from yearly raffle. Making contacts was fun I still chat with Matt Peterson every once in a wile for his article in reefkeeping magazine

I never knew. I would expect non-profit setup and people in a board to do it for the interest of the club and a leadership role if anything. I work for a multimillion dollar nonprofit and our board members get some pizza and soda at meetings that it its all volunteer otherwise.

I didn't realize we had that many paid members then. I had pretty much withdrawn from the club by then. Too much bickering. I do remember the very first meeting- myself, Denise, and I think Mike Esty.

I too miss the meets and auctions. And the food was always a plus. I have lost many contacts after the club broke up. I am trying to get a group on FB for Aroostook County. Rigor's Reef Rescue. I have issues relying to much on a website that can be shut down. This is a cool site, but I almost wish our FB page could catch up to speed. I say we use FB to get more recruits. I tell people about this site all the time. I hate FB, but it works. Just a thought.

I tell people about this site all the time. I hate FB, but it works. Just a thought. Appreciate you spreading the word! Maine Aquaria's Facebook page could definitely use some love, so if anyone wants to help admin/moderate, please let me know. Even if it's copy/pasting some of the topics from the forum, it will probably help. And this website / forum has been running in one form or another (previously under "Maine Frag Swap") for about 5 years now. There are some costs with the way it's setup now, but they're minimal enough that I pay it out of pocket. I have approached some vendors (local and national) about sponsorships to offset these costs in the past, and should probably revisit that at some point... but I guess my point is not to worry, this site won't be disappearing anytime soon. I've continued to pay the bills, even without a tank of my own over the last couple of years hah!

forum has been running in one form or another (previously under "Maine Frag Swap") for about 5 years now. Hard to believe its been that long! I remember when it was Me, Ryan, Rob and Jason for quite a while, slowly some more trickled in. So glad to see that the message board continues. I haven't had a tank for a long time, but do feel the itch from time to time. Probably get back into the game again someday. Kind of thinking about doing a planted tank for now, just to say that I actually own some fish again.

So back on topic, YES on the club. We need meetings, tank tours and Aquarium Shop Raids like we used to.
