So I got a ton of those flat green star fish, what are they called? I forgot, I also have a zillion mini brittles, love them but know they are safe. I can't remember about the green ones tho, and this is the only time I've had a tank that I've seen such large amounts of them, usually a couple, but I can easily pick out half a dozen in a minutes time. Why so many of these buggers and are they anything to worry about?

I believe your refering to the little asterina stars, mainly algae and detritus eater. Them and micro brittle stars, spaghetti worms, and bristle worms are your best friends. They consume leftovers and detritus so they're good, but a large population means there's alot of food for them. Usually it means your feeding too much. Either way make sure your blasting your rocks with turkey baster or powerhead to free up detritus, and clean your sand bed (top inch for dsb, or frequent careful gravel vac/stiring of the whole thing if under 4 inch) to remove unwanted organics that will end up being a nitrate factory and algae bloom. In the mean time, if the population is bothering you, I'm sure members here wouldn't mind a boost to their micro cleanup crew

I don't think I really over feed, I feed 2 or 3 times a week, and target feed my anemones. I do have a flow problem tho with two areas of dead spots, everyday I'm trying to move my powerheads to target more efficiently without much luck. I added another circulation pump tonight to really get the water moving and hope this will help. I blast like every other day cause I have a stupid digging fish that's constantly burying everything in sand. I hate him.
