Hey all, old-new reefer here back at it after a long break. I started this 20 gallon on 12-9-17. She's (I think it's a she?) just starting to cycle. My equipment is: 20 GAL high Hydor koralia nano (425 gph) Aquaclear 30 filter (150 gph) *Tetra heater 100w heater (Gonna replace) * beamswork light 60x .5 watt led light (52x 6,500k 8x actinic) (Gonna def. replace, its off a planted fresh I had set up) 20lbs live sand 17 lbs dry rock 8 lbs live rock (=25 lbs total, live and dry) What do you guys think? I'm very open to suggestions and ideas, I've forgot a ton in the time I've been away from the hobby. *My flow equals out to 28 times (the volume) per hour, I think that's enough? *I like having the power filter so I can run media in it. Any suggestions? I was thinking purigen and or chemipure elite. *still trying to decide on a light, def going with led, I'm just planning on doing easy corals (mushrooms, softs, and polyps) so I don't need anything too strong or fancy. *I don't have a sump, but I was thinking of doing one of those diy hob refugiums out of a aquaclear 50, maybe? I was thinking of stocking it with this: *Fish 2x clown fish 1x tail spot blenny *Inverts Feather duster Scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp *Clean up crew 7x Trochus snails 7x Nerite snails 5x Blue legged hermit crabs *And a ton of easy/intermediate corals. Open to suggestions here too! And the pictures....

Stopped in at easy aquariums today. Super cool experience ever time. Converted my filter into a chaeto refugium. : )

The top one is a copepod, bottom one may be some type of anemone? Depending on bioload and water change schedule, you might want to consider a slimmer (hob type). Overall, looking good.

For bioload, I was thinking of just a clownfish, royal gramma, tail spot blenny and a cleaner shrimp That's it, plus the reg clean up crew of crabs and snails. Trying to keep it light. I was planning on doing weekly water changes, somewhere in the ball park of 10-20 %. I was looking at hob skimmers, the nano ones seem to get mixed reviews. Guess i would have to just try one out. I knew the what the copepod was, good guess on the anemone, I googled zooplankton and I don't see anything like that. The thing is trippy looking!

Thanks! The basket comes with the aquaclear filter, its meant to hold a sponge, bio rings, and carbon pack. all comes with the filter. I'm going to get a bigger aquaclear and add filter floss and chemi-pure. mines a AQ 30, I'm gonna get a AQ 70 and have a lot more room. : )
