Will he try and eat my feather duster? I found him very close to it this morning.

i have never seen them eat dusters just fish!
once it makes its home it will stab fish when they swim by or try to check out his home

Everything I've ever read about them is that they are opportunistic and will even kill cleaner shrimp.

I kept banded shrimp a wile back. for the most part they kept to them self and didnt bother much,except the occasional snail until they started breeding then the male went on a rampage and eventually killed every fish in the tank
