Hope everyone made it through the power outage okay. And you're fish too!
I had a couple of battery operated air pumps and was pretty impressed by them. A set of D batteries kept them running for about 3 days each! I'll never be without these in Maine. My shrimp tanks that run on sponge filters never missed a beat.
Lost a few fish in my 2 - 40 gallon community tanks though, and now I'm getting the cycle back with Safe Start and water changes. Lost most of my school of pseudomugill gertrudae ARU IIs and my cardinal tetras. Just a lack of good water circulation and low heat. It only got down to 60 in the house. Okay for me, but not so hot for them.
My threadfins, pandas and ottos made it through just fine. I saw a baby panda cruising around in fact. Cute little guy.... Don't think my betta who lives in the community tank will pull through though... George and Gracie the goldfish are doing great. Goldfish are tough. Have to re-start the cycle in their refugium too.
I have a generator, but it hasn't been run in over 10 years. Got to see if I can get it running before winter, and see if I can get an electric starter added to it. I can never start anything with those pull cords!

Good luck with the generator. Too bad you couldn't get it running for your tanks. Bummer you lost some fishies.

Sorry for your losses. We were out from Monday to Saturday at about 11:30. Thank God for the generator I was able to run my the heater and powerheads on my saltwater tank, freshwater tank and the heat lights on my lizard tank. I did lose a couple of corals still because it was out for a little while in the the beginning and the corals weren’t doing the greatest things begin with. Good luck with everything and I definitely recommend getting that generator up and running. I know I wouldn’t be without mine

Yeah, but it's old and I'd probably need to sink some $$ into it to get it running. Saving my pennies up for a new generator that's duel fuel so I can run propane in it. Not as much maintenance as one that runs on gas. No gunking up and old gas in it. And one with an electric start... My arms are short and I can never work pull cords because of it!!

Sounds like a good plan. I may have to look into a propane generator considering my heat and stove are run off propane. I could probably just build a generator house and pipe it into the tanks for the house
