Has anybody tried to divide their tank? I have some fish that are not reef safe and a few corals. I would like to find a way to keep them both. I have thought about making some sort of divider, either vertical or horizontal (with coral on top) but wanted to see if anybody else had done something like this.

I've not divided my saltwater, but I have for my freshwater to keep fish separate. I used that plastic canvas material you can get at the craft store and a couple of suction cups to hold it in place and create different sections. It allows for water flow. It is ugly and grows algae well though. Depending how large your fish you could probably use egg crate too, it would be more stable and better water flow for sure. If you want to get real fancy and better looking you could use acrylic sheets with flow holes cut into it.

honestly for the work you would put in to correct circulation and lighting issues, your better off setting up a second and looping them all together on the same sump. do-able yes practical meh.
