I'm doing a new tank build(which will probably take all summer instead of being ready by summer but oh well.) and my Apex jr on the other tanks is maxed out. Not crazy about dropping that much coin on another controller for this tank. Realistically once set up I don't actually check the Apex that often. It's nice to be able to graph PH and temperature swings over time but it's never provided me with information that I needed to do anything about. So I'm considering using a switched PDU(power distribution unit) instead. Basically they are a power strip with an individual switch for each outlet.

Then the question becomes does it save money to skip a controller but then you have to get free standing ATO/dosers/temp controllers etc..
