Hi all, Just wanted to share some pictures of some reefs in Eleuthera, Bahamas. We have a family house and go down every year. I like to get inspiration for my reef builds from nature. Enjoy!

Awesome!! Thanks for sharing. Sounds like lionfish are becoming more populated there in recent times. Do you usually see them that shallow? Yellowfin tuna? Too bad you couldn't collect your own reef tank.

I have been going down every year since I was 12- 31 now. We only recently started seeing them about 5-6 years ago and every year they are more and more prevalent. A true invasive species! They have no natural predators there and are eating all the smaller reef fish- anything that will fit in their mouths. This is the first year I started seeing smaller ones just a few meters from shore and a few in tide pools less than a foot deep!! The good news is that organizations have been working with the natives and showing them how to remove the spines so they can eat the lion fish. I have tried them and they are pretty good! They are now making it onto menus at restaurants. That is a yellow fin- we take the boat out on the Atlantic side a few miles out and we slay em! Mahi-mahi, wahoo to name a few other good eating fish.

Too bad they are spreading. Florida has a extensive lionfish removal program; perhaps the Bahamas can follow. That's great to have fishing like that. Yellowfins are on my bucket list. Do you catch sailfish?

I've never caught one before- I think their season is Fall and we are always down in winter or spring. Maybe one day I will land one!

One thing I forgot to point out is the fourth picture down in the original post you can see a crab covered in zoas (he must spend a lot of time in that area). That particular patch must have been 5'x3' and Ive seen even larger patches!! Each patch seems to be a little different and even found some bluish ones- wish I could bring them home with me!!

I found another cool picture I thought I would share. Anyone know what species these fish are?
