I'm looking to go primarily with acros for this new tank. I'm seriously considering BB. I would paint the bottom glass, outside of course.
Any other stick heads? Pros and cons of BB?

I've never been a fan of BB, but they are certainly easier to keep clean. I saw a cool TOTM (can't remember which site) that had a BB sps tank but he had florida ric collection on the bottom and it had spread so that it cover almost all of the bottom which looked pretty awesome. I wonder if some sort of encrusting monti could be trained to cover the bottom glass?

Not a fan of bare bottom either. Doesn't look natural imo.

I went bb last year, I'll never go back. I think there are way more pros then cons. I do agree that sand looks way better and the light refraction of the sand helps light the corals. I went bb for keeping my tank clean and it's the cleanest it's ever been. Very easy to see when you need to do a waterchange. Also havin no flow restrictions is very nice when keeping acros.

If you want to keep wrasse down the road do what I did and put a small piece of Tupper ware in there with sand. Mine slept in his no problem.

Those of you who go bb, do you lay rock on the glass?
