Anyone doing temperate reefing? or subtropical?
Mulling over getting a dropoff tank to setup for cooler water stuff. I'd do a dropoff so I could have a deep sand bed in the lower section for blue spotted jawfish. Then live rock in the upper to an overhang to the dropoff. Probably some catalina gobies and a gulf signal blenny.
I'm curious if anyone is playing around with something similar. Thinking a reef crest AIO 35 gallon assuming I can figure out how to plumb a chiller to it.

Sean was talking about doing something similar. You might want to connect with him.

I was considering doing it a while back with a 75 I have in my basement that way I wouldn't have to deal with heaters (stays about 60° in the summer). Was going to make a native Maine tank with it with stuff I'd collect down on the coast. At the time, I was working down in Deer Isle and Stonington and know a lot of fisherman down there. Unfortunately I'm not working down that way anymore so the idea was kinda thrown to the back burner

Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking more along the line of trying something subtropical as opposed to a true temperate setup. I'm starting to lean towards a 60 gallon reef ready cube instead of the reef crest as it just seems easier to deal with.
