Does anyone happen to know of any stores around here that might carry live black worms? Also, what are your experiences using live blackworms for food or in a freshwater DSB?

I have never seen any for sale around here. I bought mine online. There are only a few places (mostly in CA) that raise them. Great food for finicky fish, but sometimes hard to wean them off of the worms once hooked. I found them to be a lot of work to keep them long term. Earthworms/compost worms are much easier. No idea how blackworms would be in a fw dsb.

Anytime I had them in my freshwater tanks, even ones with no predators they didn't last. Mind you these were dirted tanks so they should have had plenty to live off of. I suspect the temperature is too warm, but I never took the time to research their culture to be sure.

I've never asked about wHite worms. I keep mine in a 1.5gal tank with shredded UNBLEACHED brown paper bag with no dyes or inks and a airline with a big old airstone on the end. No heater or additional foods or materials and that seems to work

I do know blackworms are sensitive to warmer temperatures, they prefer it cooler. My tank isn't heated (room temp) so I'm wondering if that's cool enough?

5$ for a large goofball sized clump. I used to store them in my fridge but found they split in captivity more at a little below room temp. I've got the tank under my sink to keep it dark
