Your absolutely correct. It is Maine's hidden gem in the reef hobby. I can't wait till I have the money to be able to go back!

Anyone been to any of the Local reef stores? Anything good or bad. Dennis at Deep Sea Creations is setting up a bunch of new coral and fish tanks. I look forward to seeing his shop as the face lift continues!

Some of you might recognize where these tanks came from but if not. Thanks to Dennis at Deep Sea Creations, I now have three 7ft, drilled and divided glass tanks to use for my future clownfish breeding plans and for more coral growing space. The tanks need a little work but ya can't beat the just come and get it price!!!! What a guy!!! The store is a bit disorganized at the moment because he's been working on setting up some new tank systems but should be getting in a decent livestock shipment in Wednesday. If anyone on here hasn't been to Deep Sea Creations yet, its worth the trip and the time. First reef store in the state that I've dealt with that wasn't all about the sale.

Underwater World @ Silver City Galleria Mall Taunton Mass I have family in Taunton and visit about twice a year and always check this place out with various results. I was in today and the place was avg. Had a wide selection of fish, and coral they are running a buy one get one 50% off sale. They have mostly middle end coral lots of the cheaper SPS some Acan's and then some higher end Scoly's. Since my family always gives me cash I had to look around and decided on a huge Monti for $34.99 and an Acan colony for $24.99 one of the good things about this place is the size of the frags, the monti was a plating and over two square inches the cans were the usual about 5 polyps...now it gets rough, they have no accommodations for customer service. They had blue spotted jawfish at $99 great opp for a buy one get one they were on hold so weren't some other fish, but I just wanted the coral. I don't go home until Monday so I asked if I could pay for the coral have them hold it and pick it up first thing monday morning. I was told no, because they needed to make space and the sale was only htis weekend. I explained I lived nearly 300 miles away and was a customer there now with cash now and ready to buy, they told me if I wanted to wait till monday I could but the buy one get one would not apply...would like to know where this guy went to business school you don't stay in business refusing money here and now when a customer is simply asking to pick up a paid for purchase 12 hrs after the sale has been made. Whatever I won't be giving them any of my business, I'll save my cash for a stop at Jays on the way home :oD

Most of the silicone looks decent but most of the bulkheads were definitely leaking. I'll probably end up resealing each tank anyway though.

I've bought a couple bulk lots along with a few smaller invert orders from John Maloney "owner of Reefcleaners.org". His prices on everything are unbeatable. For example, I bought 100 florida cerith snails for $35 a while ago. Most LFS's around here charge over $2 per cerith snail. Everything ships USPS either priority mail or express mail. Any time I've had any losses I emailed him about the dead loss and without requesting a photo I received my credit. By the way, if you place an order with Reefcleaners you can almost always expect many extras!!! Worth the time to look. www.reefcleaners.org/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=4&Itemid=58

I stopped by Petco in S.Portland last night, what a mess. Every tank in there had fish covered in ich, worst I've seen that place by far. It's too bad, now that's the only fish store in Southern Maine now that Atlantis closed.
Too bad I'm an hour way from Deep Sea, it would be nice to have a good store close by.

I thought it was a bit neglected to when I was there yesterday but judging by how busy it was he probably hasn't had the time to properly deal with the tanks. I wouldn't doubt Seamonky84 will have those tanks back to looking good before long.

Unfortunately during the changes in seasons shipping stress is a lot worse as the vendors are trying to gauge how many heat packs to use. I've been dealing with the ich, past few weeks it just exploded, several shipments of fish arrived a day late and cause a bit of a snowball effect. I've taken many steps to correct the problem. I have a plan in place and taking it up with the higher ups to take further steps. But being such a high volume store it will be a process for sure. Now the good news. We're now officially a "magnet" store. As soon as I get things under control I will be ordering in some different corals and fish. A frag tank is due in feb. In the mean time, I can order you any thing that is available with our expanded selection. Just call or stop by the store, let us know what your interested in and leave your name and number. when it arrives we'll call to see if you can pick it up in the bag (avoids acclimating them twice if your picking it up that day), we cant put anything on hold once its in our tank.

Other news, a new fish store is going to be opening up soon in the gorham industrial park. Easy aquariums is the name, it was going to be tank setup and cleaning company but now he's going to do some retail and design also. He's hoping to be opening the 15th if this month.

Good to hear about the other store in Gorham, I work about 5 minutes from there so I'll have to check them out. Do they have a website or anything yet?

I was in the S. Portland Petco about a month ago (maybe more) and noticed you had a nice looking hawkfish. It had a white background with red bands. Do you remember the name of this hawkfish and do you see them often on your list?
